Question Stupid Fuel Cap Question

Ok, I know this is not a major issue, but it is one that has been bugging since I got my 05 250 PSD a month ago. What do you do with the fuel cap when filling up the truck? My last truck had a place on the inside of the fuel door to place the cap. I can hang the gas cap on my wifes car on the gas door hinge. But on my new truck, there is no place to put it and the cap bangs against the paint getting a little diesel on it. I'm about to cut the plastic line on it so that I can put it up on the bed rail or something, but then I'm sure I'll lose it someday.

Maybe you could attach a wire or something similar to the cap and then attach the other end to the inside of the fuel door... my mother's minivan is like that stock... just a plastic line from the inside of the fuel door to the cap, so you unscrew it and it just hangs there.

I used to let mine just hang down, until I noticed scratches forming from where it contacted the bed. After that, I cut the strap and haven't looked back since!

On mine I just take the cap out and put the threads of the cap on the edge of the fuel door. The lanyard is just long enough for it to stay. It hasn't caused any scratches as it is plastic. Works for me.

Thumbs up

I checked with my dealer to see if they had anything for the excursion that would work , came up zero, you should be able to take one of the hooks from a picture hanging kit and put a small nut and bolt through it , most kit have a couple of flat ones the size of a dime with a small hole that will work, hate leaving the cap on the paint also ! (Most superdutys have a hole in the arm that holds the cap, already there.)
