1994 F150XLT air bag light is flashing once followed by two more flashes. Seaching through various posts, read that this code indicates the reason as low battery voltage. If so, what could be the possible source of the low voltage and remedy to fix? Thank you in advance for any help.
From 95 manual - Code 12 indicates the air bag diagnostic monitor measures battery voltage at pin 13 and compares it to battery voltage if it drops to less than 9 volts you get code 12.
possible causes 1) open circuit to pin 13 of air bag diagnostic monitor Red/White wire circuit 937 from fuse 5, 10 amp
2) blown fuse #5 or #18 10Amp caused by short to geound circuit 611 White/Orange or 612 Pink/Orange to the safing sensor located behind passenger door pillar trim.
3) short to ground on circuit 937 above taking 12v away from monitor pin 13.
4) internal short in safing sensor causing fuse to blow for instrument panel or power distribution - W/O or P/O wires above.
5) charging system problem causing battery voltage to drop below 9 v.
Diagnostic monitor is located below steering wheel/column under dash.
If you go probing wiring, moving cables etc be sure to disconnect positive battery cable for at least one minute prior to starting to work to disable air bag system.
This should be valid for 94, but is from 95 manual.
Good luck.
