49 F1 firewall stencil
49 F1 firewall stencil
Here's a poser for the group. While sanding down the firewall last night I uncovered a stencil that was painted on. The stencil is "6 - 6 - A" and is white paint and was on top of the original paint near the center of the firewall down low, right above the transmission cut-out.
Does anybody have any idea what this signified?
I'm hoping to get the firewall primed and painted this weekend in preperation for the engine going back in.
Thanks all
Bobby

Earl,
LOL....there are times where I think you're right. Sometimes late at night when the moon is full you can peek out in the garage and see the headlights glowing red and then the scariest part.....the cab turns around in a slow 360 degrees on the frame while snarling and giggling and flapping doors.........but I digress...

My 48 had a 7-12-A stenciled in white paint or somethin' like that about the same location. I couldn't make sense of it.
On the otherhand, I found 11-11-48 stenciled in yellow paint on the exterior paint at the center of the cowl - just above the firewall seam. This corresponded to the code stamped into the firewall of 7RH12L6025. Probably put there by a patriotic assembly line worker celebrating Armistice Day I figure.

mtflat,
Thanks, I figured it was put on at the assembly line. I was just wondering what it meant. I used to work at a Cadillac dealership and it was amazing the kind of stuff you would find in or on the new cars when they came in.
