I was wondeing how much that it would cost me to have my 2.73 rear end changed for some 3.55 's or something like that. I will have someone do it all for me, but I don't really want to spend a whole lot of money. Could I get it totaly done for $400 or less, or am i way out of the ball park? -Zach

 

$5-600 is probably a more realistic number, if you include parts costs.

 

I have a set of 3.73 gears out of an 8.8 rear axle. I just swapped an 8.8 rear axle out of a 95 Explorer into my Jeep Wrangler. It was factory set up with 3.73 R&P and a factory locker(LSD), The locker is spoken for already, but the gears are available to anyone who wants them. Im not looking to make any $$$ off of them,(I already got a great deal on the whole axle), and I would just as soon see someone who could use them take advantage. This will save about $170.00, you will still need a master rebuild kit(bearrings, races, shims, gaskets, etc.). Im working and living in Reno, Nv. for about the next month, then its off to Beaverton, Or.,(I think???). Let me know if anyone is interested. Later,

how about a free rear end setup? Wanna trade? I have an 87 F250.2WD.300.with 3.73's. U have exactly what I want.

 

If the gears are still available, I'll take 'em. They are exactly what I want. I'm in Northern California.
