I want headers for my '77 F150 with the 351M and C-6. Heddman say theirs won't fit because mine is an early '77 (built April '77) and there was a chassis change in June '77.
I talked to Hooker and they say theirs will fit mine because the chassis change only affected F250 and up (they called it 'low-boy' vs 'high-boy').
So now I'm confused. Seems to me either Heddman or Hooker is wrong.
The mid year change only affected the F250. Prior to April of '77 the F250's were known as high boys. This is simply because they sat higher from the factory. This also only pertains to the 4x4's.
After April of '77, the F250's were "lowered" to the same ride height as the F150's, hence the low boy.
When you order headers, be sure to tell them if you have an auto or manual. Sometimes this matters. Also tell them if you have a 4x4 or a 4x2.
I've been thinking about headers as well, and have been looking for options. What kind of prices were you quoted?? I have the exact same truck, 77 F150, 2WD, with the 400 (same block as 351M).
