C6 TO AOD

I would like any info on making this swap. My Truck is a 1989 f150 4x4 4.9 ltr 6 and I have purchased a 89 aod tranny, the bell housing, flex plate, torque converter, and both front and rear drive shafts. I am having trouble finding a trottle valve cable , the nuetral safety switch harness and the manual likage from the frame to the tranny. Any tips would be appriciated. Is there any way I can get by with some modified linkage or is there a kit sold by someone to make this easy.

Keep your c-6 its a tuff tranny. The aod is easy to tear up. We rebuild the ones in our work trucks after 60,000 miles or so and it costs a couple of thousand each time depending on what it tore up. You can use bothe transmisions though, you can take the fist gear out of one and put it into the other, to make it lower. I dont remember if it aod into c-6 or the other way around. Any way if you find a transmision shop that even knows it is possible they will know which way it goes.

Check into the B&M Megashifter, it should resolve any linkage problem and moves the neutral safety switch to the shifter column.

Check with Lokar for the TV cable. They have a lot of setups that can be tailored to your application.

And I agree that you should really keep your C6; it's a tough tranny.

If you still have the C6, I need one. How much you want for it?

I would check your differential ratio carefully before this swap. The AOD is usually used in conjunction with a lower ratio gear than the C6.
