Motor question

I am looking for a 223 inline six I block for my son's 55 Customline. I've had a couple people contact me with pickups with that motor..... newer though... from the 60's. These would be Y-Blocks, correct? Didn't Ford stop making the I-Block in 55?

Would they bolt onto the 3 on the tree tranny? Any other differences I should know? And if they did use the 223 I-Block in trucks, what years?

Thanks

No, the 223 was used up until 1964 in cars and trucks. The "Y" blocks were the 239-272-292-312 V8's.They were also used up until 1964. The 223 6 cyl should line right up with what you have there now, providing the car had a 223 originally. Otherwise, you needs mounts, brackets, etc..

Awesome! Thanks. I wish I'd realized sooner to look for trucks with this motor. We coulda had the car back on the road months ago!
