Body Swap

I'm looking into changing the body and box on my snow plow truck from a standard cab / long
box to a club cab / short box. In the process of looking for a replacement standard cab, I found a
great deal on a whole club cab 2wd truck. Will a club cab fit on a standard cab frame? What
other kinds of problem can I run into?

first you should measure the wheelbase of both trucks. measure from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle. if these measurements are the same the swap shouldn't be too difficult. if there not the same your looking at doing some very intensive modificatoin and fabrication

I too am looking to convert my supercab long bed to a crew cab short bed. If you look at the frame you'll notice that there is a kick up after the cab. This may or may not be a problem. You may have to modify the floor of the the replacement cab so it will fit over the kick up. I've read in a sport truck magazine where a long bed was shorten to a short bed because the person didn't want to wait for a short bed to arrive at the dealership. He had to shorten the frame and drive shaft also. If I'm not mistaken, there is a specific frame for each body type, regardless of wheel base length.

If you decide to do this, I'd like to hear how you did it and the outcome.

In addition to the above mentioned, you may need to move the cross member holding the rear cab mounts. I'd check to see if anything would be in the way to prevent you from doing this(front fuel tank?). Just did a body swap on a reg. cab. It went well and I'd guess you could make your project work too.

Thanks for your advice.... I measured the WB of the standard cab/long bed at 137" and the club cab/short bed at 140". I think that this project is more than I can handle...
