1995 PSD no speedo, no cruise blowing fuse

I have a 1995 PSD with a 5spd. Today all of a sudden the speedo quit. Of course now the cruise does not work either. I checked the fuse for the speedo and it was blown.

Now if I replace the fuse it just blows again right away. All other gauges work as they should.

I'm leaving for a 1500 mile trip and I'd like to know what the problem is.

Can anybody help me.

Look around in the steering column for frayed wires grounding out.

Got a question for ya Bob.

That '79 supercab doesn't happen to have a 5.9 cummins in it, does it???

OK, thanks BOB

I met a guy a few weeks ago at a dyno day and he had a '79 supercab and it had a 5.9 cummins and the 5 speed behind it, just thought maybe you were him.

For your problem I would go with what kwik said, start digging into the wires under the dash on the column, prolly a fraid wire shorting out.

is it fuse # 8 in under the dash? a 15 amp fuse? do you have remote keyless entry? if you do and it is #8 blowing un plug the remote keyless entry module under the dash. it is to the right of the column and has 3 connectors. i have this problem not with #8 blowing taking our speedo, door locks, courtesy lights and power mirrors. i unplugged this module and problem went away. replace the module and problem was gone for a month then came back and here i sit trying to figure it out.

hopw it helps
