I read many posts about speedometer issues and I have learned a lot but I have a couple questions about my specific application.
First off the speedo only jumps a little under hard acceleration other than that nothing. Plus the odometer and cruise are not working either.
It sounds like my 95 has an electronic speedo and I have chnaged the vss in the rear diff with no effect at all. I think I read that there may be one in the transfercase as well. Is that true? Does it effect the speedo and if so where is it.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need to get it fixed before I get a speeding ticket.
Excellant! I'll change it tomorrow (if it's in stock) and let you know if it fixes my problem. I'm glad I asked because I thought I read in another post that the other VSS was on the transfer case. Anybody have a part number by chance?
I figured it was the one on rear diff because that's where it was on my '93 Bronco. Oh well...
I know it's been a while but I changed the vss in the transfer case and it still does the same thing.
With the key on I can spin the gear on the end on the vss and my speedo reacts. I have changed the little gear on the VSS and it was better for a little while.
The gear inside the TC looks cupped pretty bad so that's got to be my problem.
So here is the big question. Can I change the speedometer gear on the output shaft of the transfer case by remove the driveshaft and then unbolting the yoke and seal? I'm hoping I can get to a snap ring or something and slide out the gear. If not it looks like I'll have to take out the TC and take it apart.
