How to replace injection pump??

I saw somewhere on here a link on how to replace the injection pump on the 7.3 IDI, does anyone know where that is, or can give me info on how to do it? Do I need to leave the lines hooked up to the pump and take them off of the injectors when removing??
Thanks

Hi, I had to remove the injector pump from my 6.9 last year. I had to disconnect the pipes from the injectors and remove the pump with the pipes still connected. I then labeled them as they were removed from the pump. For removing and refitting I cut a piece out of a ring spanner 11/16 I think so that it would slot onto a pipe and then fit onto a nut. Hope this helps.

Yeah, leave the lines on the pump. Pull the front two bolt cover off (under the oil fill). You'll need a 5/16 12 point socket to remove the 3 bolts inside. Then remove the 3 9/16 nuts that hold the pump on and slide it back (as far as you can). If it wont snake out like that you can remove the top stud to gain some more room. I left out the part about the wires and fuel supply lines, but I think that's pretty staight forward. You may want to pull the incoming fuel fitting from the back of the pump. Should give you a little extra room.

The lines from the pump to the injectors on my 91 are held by clamps so that they will come off as a unit in 2 sets of 4. I left the clamps on when I removed the lines and then reintalled them as a unit on the new pump. With the new pump in the lines were back in nearly their original location and reconnecting to the injectors was a snap.
