Hey folks, its been a while since I weighed in. I've developed a whine that becomes more pronounced with turning the wheels either direction. The issue is that I went out to confirm this about 90 minutes after getting home tonight and pulled it out into the driveway and back turning the wheels to both sides, and I didnt hear it. Does whining become louder and more obvious the longer one is driving? Just curious as I would rather confirm the diagnosis. Any thoughts will help. Thanks and Cheers,
My 95' whines also; I changed the fluid out to synthetic Valvoline, and it got a little less noisey where I could live with it. It doesn't leak at all. I bought a replacement pump off ebay for 20.00 bucks with a warranty just to have on hand in case mine goes completely out. I only hear mine when parking or turning a corner real slow.
Mine had bad ball jts and caused the rack to work too hard. How are your ball joints?
I thought the Valvoline syn. fluid would help mine but actually made it worse so I flushed it out and used Tranny fluid again and it works fine without noise. I think those SYN steering fluids swell the seals and made mine worse.
