Radiator question
Radiator question
I have a radiator out of a 351m and want to use it on my 300, it all fits and all but the bottom is the problem the hose is coming out on the left side of the engine but on the radiator its on the opposite side. Do they make long lengths of radiator hose? if so that would work.
I dont know much about them but the one that came out of it is all rotten, the stuff in the middle is and it leaks there, now all i have is the one out of the 351 but the bottom outlet is on the other side. are you saying i can take the sides off the other one and put them on the big radiator?
I'm not sure if the two radiator side tanks are interchangeable, they are a pain to remove and replace unless you know what you are doing, and they would also need new seals on each side. Why not let a pro take a look at it?
Maybe they could flush the original core, and replace the seals for half the cost of a new one. One caution: I had my 12 yr old radiator flushed and refurbished, and one year later the plastic inlet cracked off the sidetank. When the plastic ages I guess it becomes brittle. I spent 150 for an exact replacement for mine. I installed it myself, and it has been OK.

I know money can be an issue, but usually for a
radiator that is *really* shot, I recommend just
biting the bullet, and getting a new one. Most
have lifetime warranties...I bought a new one in
2000 for my 68, and I've already had to replace
it once , as the top weld started coming loose.
Sure was nice to get a brand spanking new one
for free...
It wasn't cheap, but unless the Co.
goes out of biz, I'll never have to buy another
radiator as long as I own that truck. And
being new, naturally it cools great too...But I'm
all for a re-rod if the old one is not too far gone...
You can get quite a few years on a good rebuild...
My 74 has the original that has been rebuilt once
quite a few years ago...
It looks pretty old, but still works ok..
I imagine if it goes south, being so old, I'll probably
buy a new one and get the lifetime warranty...
I like "lifetime" parts...
Both my trucks have so
many lifetime parts, I can't keep track of them all...
Have a big wad of invoices in the glove boxes I inspect
when a part goes bad...Most of the time... yup...
Lifetime...Free again...
