Wink Factory Deck

I have a 99' F-350. I'm going to buy my neighbors amp, 4 channel. I paid to have an amp and two 8"s put in. I'll be attempting this install. I don't know much, just don't want to pay.

I have the factory CD/Tape/Radio deck that came with the truck. Will there be RCA jacks in the back? Or, do I have to splice wires to run to the amp and then back? How tricky is it to get the dash apart? Any hidden screws?

Any advice or pics would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Damon

I don't think you'll have RCA outputs on that OEM head unit.

If the amp doesn't have speaker-level inputs, you'll need a line output converter.

Here's a link to one from Crutchfields:

You can probably find them elsewhere, just to give you an idea.

I'm not sure about the dash removal on a 99. Maybe someone else here will chime in, or try searching in the Super Duty forum as well.

No RCA jacks, just need Ford removal tools to slide the radio out.

Are you going to use the new amp to power the 4 speakers in the doors? If so, there are a few things to consider. First is if you have replaced these speakers or if they are factory. I wouldn't want to put an amplifier on factory speakers, definitely shorten their life span, and most times doesn't sound that great, just louder. Secondly, if you want to keep fadability (front to rear) you will need 2 line out converters, one for front and one for rear. Due to the low quality of signal from the factory radio, and the loss from the converter, this too doesn't always sound better, just louder. My opinion, if you are going to go through the trouble of hooking up a 4 channel, get an aftermarket radio with at least 2 sets of pre-outs and some good speakers in your doors.
