Yesterday when I went to leave to drive down to my parents place for mothers day, I fired up my Expy and it started just fine, but the gauges all just sat there for a split second (longer than usual) then they ALL pegged on the high side. Tach, speedo, temp, fuel, all of them all the way over. They stayed there for a couple of seconds then dropped back to the zero side. They stayed there for just a second then came back to where they should be.
It's been fine since and that was the first time that ever happened. Anyone else experience this, or know what might have happened?
Thanks guys. That confirms what I was thinking. A couple of weeks ago I left the key in the "ON" position without the engine running for maybe ten minutes at the most. The AC, radio, headlights and such were running and when I went to start it, the trip computer and everything else reset. I don't recall if the gauges did the same thing. I know that was from low battery as I've had the problem MANY times in my jeep when the battery cable works it's way loose. I didn't know for sure that the gauge thing was battery related, but I had an idea.
I guess I'll start shopping around for a new btty.
