Has anybody found a close match to the red engine block paint? Also the black for the valve covers, air cleaner etc? Looking for rattle can match. Appreciate any help.
I've used dupli-color red with some clear over top, looked pretty nice, close match? It's not bright redish orange. The black I use rustolem with their clear overtop for extra shiny. -4speed
My engine shop didn't, but I re-coated with new paint so no primer was used. I used primer for the parts I painted. Don't be afraid of using non-auto paint on the motor, I know lots who have used it. For the clear I use Diamond clear by rustolem, as it lays the best and provides that extra shine, although you don't have to use it. -4speed
Aren't the correct engine colors for 1960 black for the block, and Ford Red for the valve covers? This is how my '60 223 was painted from the factory, and I was under the impression that the 292 was painted accordingly.
There is a real long thread in the Y-block forum on this. From what I remember, 1960 was not documented and there were lots of opinions. We chose black and red with some chrome. Not exactly original but we like it.
