Alright, i have a question for all the MAF guru's, will a MAF from a 1996 F150 5.0 that came out of an eec V vehicle work with a EEC IV computer? I know the plugs arent the same.

Just the sensor itself? The sensor should work with any computer, though I don't know if the calibrations are the same.

Yes they will work. The transfer functions may be a little different, but I think the motor should still idle and drive.

Option 1= Buy truck mass air conversion kit from Ford motor sports which Comes with a wire harness that makes the truck SEFI , another wire harness for the mass air sensor. Ecm ,mass air sensor , Aod or standerd only , part# M-9000-T51*
Options 2=Get ecm(A9 computer family) From a old mustang , Make it work in ur truck, involves changing pins around at the ecm connector , and making ur own wire harness for the injectors

If u do a search in these fourms ,There are people who have used to the original computer for the transmission controls, and a mustang for the engine controls.
And if u really want a Mass air with ur e40d u can buy a tranmission contorler.

I'am cheap, poor and young so i'am doing option 2 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2205396

Night of the living thread

This is an old thread, no one has posted since last year. LOL

I've already done option 2, thank god I have an aod tranny, that made it so much eaiser. I read your cardomain page and it looks like your doing about the same I did. I made my own injector harness, tied it to the the the truck's existing harness, and put a couple of connectors between the harness I added and the ecm so I could take the harness back out eaisly if I had to.

There are a few more pics in my gallery.

I did away with the egr since SC doesn't have any emissions testing, but to retain the egr with the mustang intake you need to get an egr spacer and egr valve off a mustang, or any other 5.0 car that uses the same intake, bolt it on, plug it in, and hook up the vaccum line.

The throttle body was pretty easy, the most difficult part was making a braket for the throttle cable and tranny kick down. (not really hard it just takes time to design the bracket) I think you might be able to use the throttle cable bracket off a mustang but I'm not 100% sure. I would like to find one to see if it would work. The air piping from the air filter to the tb is 3" rubber sewage pipe I got from Home Depot.

I couldn't tell you the differance in power I got from just the intake because I swaped it as I was doing the maf conversion and putting in the cam and roller rockers. It will probaply shift you power band up 200-300 rpm.

Good luck with the conversion post some pics when your done, and if you need any help shoot me a pm.

Its a K&N air filter but I have no idea of the size with out measuring it, I'll measure it tomorrow and let you know.

I got that filter with a FIPK I bought about about 4 months before I did the maf swap.

I was just wondering when converting to the a9p, is there any special way the 02 sensor have to be hooked up? mine had 2 white's and 1 black. I hooked 1 white to the signal wire, 1 white to the 12v+ and the black to ground. Still getting misc error codes from the computer. I erased the codes and havent checked them since. But the truck does idle strange and i'm sure there are codes there. Also i have the spark plugs from a carb'd motor (napa gave me the wrong ones) in there right now. Will this be effecting anything? I know they are a different heat range. what sort of impact will this have on power?

It should be wired one white to +12V, the other white to ground, and the black wire is the signal. The A9P also looks for two O2 sensor signals, so you can split the black wire to the two input pins. Did you move the TAD and TAB pins to the correct locations for the A9P? Make sure that pin 49 attaches to ground too.

cjjeeper,

I noticed you still have the air scoop inlet attached. Does the FIPK have a hole in the bottom for the "ram" air? It looks like you set the FIPK over the botttom of the original airfilter box. I also used the sewer pipe from Home Depot, although a little different from you set-up. I have it hooked to a very similar filter. I am trying to find a good way to cut the bottom of the original air box and set the conical filter in it and then put the top back on. The bottom and top would be cut to fit around the "bottom" of the filter.

Nope, the fipk completly did away with the stock air box and came with the heat shield that the air scoop attaches to . Post some pics of your setup I'd like to see it.
