im running with a 88 F250 add a leaf all the way around flowmaster exhaust 35x12.5 bf mudders on american racing rims. any ideas on what i could do for some cheap 4 wheeling mods. any ideas would be helpful
Cheap is relative. My version of cheap is probably not yours. As tempted as I am to tell you to friggin search, I'll start you off with some ideas. 2.5 rockwells with shaved center section, 2" chromoly axles, (make sure to get two steering axles because you'll want four wheel steer of course). Disk brake conversion all the way around, full hydro steering, naturally. King coilovers with 2' of travel on each corner. SVO 460 block punched to an 805 cid. That should start you off...
What kind of wheelin do you want to do? A good capable trail rig is a lot easier and cheaper to build than say a rock crawler or bog runner. Once you decide what kind of rig you want study the subject search old post and ask specific questions. Like Pro said cheap is a relative term. Cheap for me may not be cheap for you. I have a fully equip shop at my disposal and a machine shop. If you have to pay for the work done it gets exspencive. No matter what kind of rig you decide on don't let want get a head of need.
Start modifying by working out the weak points in your rig. Like proper gearing to turn those big meats. Lose the chain drive T-case swap in a 205. Welding the front diff is as cheap a mod as they come and good one to start with.
Well, here's a short list of what to do...
1. Fartcan muffler, 8 of em, 1 for each cylinder
2. Chrome EVERYTHING - shocks, shock boots, driveshafts, windshield wipers, EVERYTHING
3. 24" spinners with 26" toyo racing tires.. These things RULE off-driveway, especially at the mall and roller rinks...
4. Get a big siren and get 'Ice Cream Man's Greatest Hits'. The chicks this will draw will blow your mind...
5. For when things get REAL dark, get those awesome off-road strobe lights, the ones that light up to the beat of the afore-mentioned cd. Plus, get your windows tinted, and wear your visor upside down and sideways, and wear your oakleys in the dark.
-All THIS will make you AND your truck an off-road monster. Ask Ivan, he'll tell ya...
