Well my truck is going to be delayed. I'm thinking that since I'm graduating high school this year and probally won't get in to Kelsi this year, I might as well make one good truck. So I'm going to put my good cab and box on the truck. I'm going to be removing all the sheetmetal from the truck. When I'm done I'm going toget rid of the rest of my truck parts because I don't need to clutter up my parents yard anymore.
I've got a lot of Flathead V-8 parts it's just that no one wants them. The guy I sold the engine blocks to cleans them up and ships them to the states. He scraps the parts they don't want. I'd prefer not to do that if I don't have to.
On Sat. nite we went to look at a Flatie V8 powered 29 ford Roadster and was it sweet!! If you have an decent Flat Heads engines hang on to them as they are very hard to find. Very hard and still some what popular. Can`t beat their sound as no other engine sounds or runs as sweet.
I have everything else but the blocks. I did have 4 blocks at one time. I moved the cab over to the truck. I've repaired the floor, removed the broken windows and doors. Need to remove some dash items, clean the cab, fix some dints then I can start painting. At walmart I found a gun attachment you can stick on a spray paint can. I guess I'll see how it works .
I've got one coat of paint on the good cab. I've dissasembled the bad box and have removed the front fenders. I've now started to play with the rear springs to bring it down a bit.
Tremclad. That spray gun attachment I bought works very well for how much I paid for it. You just have to wipe the front of the can down every once in a while so it doesn't drip on the paint. I've finished my rear leaf spacers so after school I'm going to have the rear springs on the truck bolted back on to the axle.
I've got both of the rear springs leveled. I just need to replace the bushings and pins. I may have to get the pins custom made. I'm swaped the front F-1 springs and axle. So the truck sits level and has good kingpins. Now I just got to find a toyota steering box since I don't think it's worth trying to fix the stock box.
The Toy is a good and quick replacement for the old Ford Box. Where are you getting your`s from and what is involved to mount it? Any special brackets required? Another good replacement is an early Mustang, I believe.
I thought I would try Amigos first then SGI. Bucks selecton is limited. I have two articles of it being installed. I was just going to copy their brackets. One is two pieces of 1" steel bar welded in a V with holes drilled through it. I can make a template from 1" square stock and then do the final in 1" steel bar. I might use the steering colomn from our '69 C-750. Since it's a cab over it already uses U-joints to connect to the steering box. I'd probally have to find a smaller steering wheel though. Power steering with a 20" wheel.
I've still got to do a little touchup sanding on the cab. One more coat of paint and the cab should be done. The doors will need some paint. I've almost got the other cab unbolted, the front two are the only ones left. I'd just have to remove everything out of the cab and lift it off the frame. I've been playing around with the rear shocks. The stock Dana 70 shock mounts line up almost perfect. I just got to repair the driver side one.
It was never 200 mph FYI, that is only for Nascar.
