It's a little to late for that. I'm going to yank the engine and tranny today so I can shorten up the engine crossmember. It hangs a little too low so if you hit a bump the tie rod rubs on it. It is about 1" over the tie rod. After I plan on changing the front radiator crossmember. It was previous welded by a PO and now has cracked again. I plan on switching it with the one I removed from the F-1 frame. You can't beat a standardised platform. Removed a crossemember from the F-1 frame and bolted in the original M-3 crossmember. That crossmember then replaced the one ahead of it. These crossmembers are for the emergency brake mount and don't hang so low as the regular ones. They even have stagered holes so you can't put it in backwards. (wink wink)
Congrats Now you really can afford to fix up that old truck and bring it up here to show around.
Hey if you work there maybe you will meet some farmers that work on restoring old tractors. My neighbor has a couple old Oliver's that are parts donors.
Got my 85 back together today. The old cam sowed no real problems, just a very small chip on a tooth for the distributor. About the size of an aphide.
Truck runs good still have that ticking that gets louder as you drive. The last thing it has to be is the oil pump. That will have to wait til after the wedding.
Man so much to do and just little over 60 days to go. Hair pulling time.
Well this has done it. Now I just have to do a tear down of my 300 in my 85.
Going to work this weekend popped a bit of the gasket out the front of the oil pan. Pumped out all the oil. Motor now really has a rattle in the crank. Was going toi get at the oil pump next month, but now pull the motor and have the bottom end rebuilt also. The head and new cam are there, now just get the block, crank, rods of the bottom done then no more worry about the engine blowing up on the highway going back and forth.
So have to bite the bullet with no money to fix it. Somehow I will get it done. At least then I know I will have a decent engine in the truck for winter.
Ow, hate when something like that happens. But like you say at least it will be ready fro the winter. More hair pulling time again. Hope that after all this things go better for your wedding.
Yeah the fiance not happy. She keeps reminding me that the money I spend could of bought a newer truck. I look at it 400 a maonth payments and anything goes wrong, big bills again. At least this is paid for. After this with the motor I should be good for years. The truck needs lots of other work, but not major like the motor.
