Howdy folks,
Am starting on my new project, a 1979 XLT Lariat Bronco. What visor have you guys found to be the best one to go with?
Thanks,
Pat Patrick
With soaring fuel cost why do you want a wind catcher? I mean we are driving bricks why increase wind drag. I'll bet those things eat 3-4 mpg at highway speeds.
Or is it just the COOL factor.
Wind resistance is certainly something that I've looked at. Cool factor is also something that I've looked at.
All these things coupled with drilling holes in the roof have me a bit on the antsy side about putting one on. Appearance wise, I think that the visors most certainly add to the vehicle.
Gotta love the planning and discussion around the planning. Wonder whether anyone has ever done a Visor Vs. Visorless test?
Pat
i havent noticed any drop in my gas miliage not saying that it didnt just saying that if it did drop it wasnt even enough to notice so as you say cool factor well worth it as to why put on something that causes a loss of gas miliage what about big tires, custom bumpers, nerf bars etc. etc. every pound of extra weight takes away from miliage but we still do it

Your correct but the bumpers, nerfs and tires serve a purpose.
The visor other looking realy cool whats the purpose? They probably dont drag any more air than my light bar, but I need the lights.
What realy be useful is a rear spoiler to keep the dust from caking up the back glass.
How about a visor that is also a light bar.

1) Nice for blocking a bit of the sun
2) During the winter they prevent complete snow coverage on the glass.
3) If you get the type with the built in lights...your considered ultra-freak'in cool.
4) Chicks dig it...what more can I say
Hey Patsplace I know this is a old thred ,but I notice you said you had a 79 bronco XLT Lariat.I'm some what obsessed with whether or not Ford made a Lariat featured Bronco from the factory for the 78 or 79 model year.Could you PM me or post here what you know about your Bronco. Thanks
I love visors Have had few lunds . I can tell you they do effect millage . Every one I ever put on come loose.Except last one put body adhesive under during install. I drive average 500+ mile week . The way I know milage difference is when visor would work loose I would remove untill get to body shop. All my trucks got 2+MPG better without visor than with .And last truck I removed visor because I was retiring truck last tank I ran through truck w/out visor I got 2 MPG increase. And I keep milage records for reembersment. But I'd say Lund is best on looks and quality. Check around My local guy's beat online alot because of no shipping costs. good luck
