I have a 94 F150, 4.9 2WD. I just went over 75,000 miles and was thinking about having the injectors cleaned. I called the dealer and was quoted 130.00 to have it accomplished. I am only getting them cleaned because it's been about 35,000 since the last cleaning and I am getting a little rough idle at times. My questions is this...Is 130. for this procedure a bit high, or is that a fair price, and do you think I really need to have them cleaned? Any replies would be appreicated.
Kevin ,
Save your money . You have DRI Injectors ( Deposit Resistant ) When was the last time you did the regular maintenance ? Plugs , air & fuel filter , pcv valve etc ? How does the truck run otherwise ? Todays engines are designed to run so lean that the occasional rough idle isnt uncommon esp in warmer weather . Have a look at all the basic stuff before you go further .

Kevin,
As part of my routine maintenance, I add a bottle of good quality injector cleaner to each gas tank after each oil change. It's easy to remember, there's an auto parts store on the way home from my favorite oil change shop. I do it every 5,000 miles. You might also consider a synthetic oil, if you're not already. My truck runs cooler and I get a little better mileage.
