Removing Drag Link

I want to take the drag link off my parts truck. I have pulled the cotter pins out of the ends but I can't get the large screws in the ends to move. Any secrets? Is there a tool made the fits that large slot? I bent two screwdrivers putting them in sideways and trying to turn the ends. I want this one in one piece I noticed the drag link on my F3 is bent.

Soak it with PB blaster or equivalent. They make a socket with a straight blade screwdriver tip for this purpose. You're on the right track. See if you can find one. I've bent screwdrivers doing this. So many of those links are bent.

I am going to soak mine in WD-40 since that is all I have on hand. I am contemplating getting a torch to help with problems like this.

I've used a tire iron that has a flat blade on the end with success. It's about a foot long.

Thanks, hadn't thought about that. Maybe I can get one of those four way ones with a blade on one end.

If you can only find a four-way socket wrench, grind one leg down to a screwdriver tip.

The draglink is SUPPOSED to have a slight bend in it! If soaking in liquid wrench for 24-48 hrs (note to all: WD40 is NOT a penetrating oil!) doesn't do it then heat is your next option. I've had good luck breaking them loose with a dull chisel and hammer, put it in the uppermost end of the slot at as much angle as possible and give it a few taps. move to the bottom of the slot and do the same in the opposite direction. Keep alternating back and forth until it loosens, then take it out with a tire iron. If you need to heat it, heat the outside hot, then hold an icecube against the plug to shrink it.
You can also make a turning tool by grinding the square end of a short 1/2" drive extension (grind it from corner to corner to get a longer blade with less grinding and don't overheat it.) Keep the blade as short as possible and as thick as the slot.
