Longer drag link?

So apparently i will need a longer drag link if i want to even lift my highboy 1". Now i have looked and found multimple ones but they all seem to be for F100 and F150's. Or for late 70's F250's....

I have a 1978 Dana 44 Front end on my "1974 F250 4X4"

So i need an adjustable, longer drag link i guess. Any thoughts?

Drop pitman arm? 9 inch lift on a 75 f-100 and spent over $200 on a new pitman arm and it was only 1 ich longer. I thought about not replacing it but, with all the money spent on a new gear box, tie-rod and tires, I didn't
want to go cheap and have problems

When you upgraded your axle did you also upgrade to 78/79 integral power steering or are you still using the highboy power assist steering?

Ok here are all the pics i have of front end stuff (b4 the new power steering conversion redo)

Notice how the drag link is adjustable. But its almost at full length right now so it needs to be longer...

It looks like they swapped in chevy stuff from the box to the steering arm.

Oops, hit reply too early by mistake. How are you redoing it properly? If you stick with the stuff in the pictures you could use an aftermarket chevy draglink with an S curve in it or dropped pitman arm. Both are very common.

If you're only lifting 1" (i assume an add-a-leaf) your current pitman arm and drag link will be just fine, but if you're lifting 4" then yes you'll need a dropped pitman arm and/or drag link.

He is going to reuse the 2wd steering box and a borgeson double U joint end steering shaft. I dont know what the power steering pump is yet....

i believe the 2wd box is from a 78 F250

Looks to me like it has a Chevy steering arm on the axle...and it's tough to say about the draglink itself...if the steering box is located correctly...a chevy truck draglink should work fine...all 3 pieces...both tie rods and the adjusting sleeve.....I would maybe recommend a "Lifted" steering arm for a chevy truck tho...that should help a little....you want that draglink to run fairly straight and not at an angle.
