how much boost are you guys making on the 05 in stock form. mine doesnt go past the 20 mark and it now has 2000 miles on the clock, i cant recall if it ever went higher. the other day i was driving it hard and noticed that no matter how hard i pushed it the stock gauge would not go past the 20lb. mark. the truck is completly stock. also been noticing some smoke on startup and after some idle time, could this be the possiblitly of more serious things to come? thanks guys
I wish that was all my stock 2003 was seeing. I have an autometer gauge, and I can bury the boost gauge (35LBS) easily up a grade with the cruise set at 45MPH. I thought that the VGT vanes were too open, but the tec. said they were not, and due to my Air Aid intake and K&N air filter that I should see higher boost numbers. I called BS on that, becuase before my truck would never see past 26LBS of boost with the chip in and the pedal to the floor.
So (sorry for ranting lol) for your question "normal" boost for a stock 6.0L so far seems to be anywhere from 25LBS-29Lbs max.
I would say that your VGT vanes in your case are too closed, causing less boost at higher RPM's. My case is just oppisite yours (too much boost). Strange though that that would happen with only 2K on the clock. Are you experiencing any loss of power from before ? Ford says that the 6.0L should put out about 25LBS or so of boost.
I have a 2005 F250 6.0L automatic with the 3.73 gears. When pulling a good grade with a full load in the bed and accelerating up from 60 mph, I am seeing around 25 to 30 lbs of boost as shown on the factory gauge.
When my truck was bone stock with the stock exhaust on I hit 25. Now with 4 inch exhaust but everything turned off I hit 28. With the edge on 5/5 I hit 32.
My stock 04 will go up to 30lbs at WOT. I installed an ISSPRO guage that i picked up at motorhaven. It is tapped in at the intake elbow which shows 2lbs more boost than when i tied in at the map sensor.
Normally my 05 PSD will hit 20 lb when accelerating. Try a steep hill at 50 mph and then stomp on it. Say a 7 % grade will do it. With a load you will hit 30 lbs or so. If you have a trailer or camper under acceleration on a hill it should also hit 30 lbs boost. Then say bye bye Chevy or Dodge........
