I'll try being a bit more specific. It only happens when I hit the accelerator. It comes and fades. It's not very loud, but it's definitely a ringing sound. Something could be loose. It sounds similar to hitting a steel post with a hammer, only it goes on and off. Again, it's not very loud and it's under the hood. It does seem that the noise is either somewhere in the middle under the hood, or toward the driver's side. I've driven other PSDs and haven't heard this noise before. Definitely sounds like it's coming from something steel though (hence the ringing). Just in case, I checked for leaks, and there are none apparent. Checked the fluids too. All good. Didn't check the air filter and fuel filter though. Hope this will give you experts a better idea, because I'm no expert!
I have a similar noise in my wifes truck. Around 1600-1800 rpms (under load) not reving in neutral. Ive tried to pin point the noise with a stethascope (sp?) while wife powerbrakes the truck to make it make the noise but no luck. Truck is stock except for muffler delete and diablo tuner (mild setting). Seems to me that the truck is low on boost pressure but part of that I think is my boost gauge reading about 4 psi low. Ill try to get a video or sound clip on youtube sometime soon and would love to try to solve this annoying noise.

Definently not the lovely "singing" a turbo makes. After about 2000 rpms under load it is clearly the turbo singing. But 1600-1800 or so is a different noise all together. If the shifts bring the rpms back down through that rpm range ill hear the noise. Im afraid it has something to do with the turbo but from the drivers seat it sounds like its comming from the drivers side of the engine. Maybe through the intake?? Its so hard to diagnose since the engine has to be under a load at that rpm range.
Also, it seems that the boost will start to build as the noise goes away.
