want to put an exhaust sytem on this truck.am leary of headers but would run some if there is some for ford that i wouldnt have to break nuckles on .replacing gaskets and stuff like that.any ways truck has dual tanks.going to build 390to stock limits hi rise cam and maybe 360 pistons.but want to put a good exhaust on it to start with.coming out in front of back tires.straight back to one side or out back .or each side.what size pipe. mufflers .y pipe ??????????????.will spend the money for quality
Where you route the pipes will depend on what look you want. It really doesnt matter, expect running them out in front of the rear wheels will be easier than going over the axle. IMO, I have always liked the look of 2 big tips out back.
2.25-2.5" pipe, mufflers depend on what sound you want. Magnaflow, Borla, Flowmaster, glasspacks, etc. are all ok. I am a Magnaflow fan because they are mellow sounding, and not excessively loud and annoying. I would definately have an X or H pipe right after the manifolds or headers. They mellow the sound a lot and usually give a decent boost in torque.
