Hey everyone, I have a 1987 Ford Ranger with the 2.9 six. It is four wheel drive (although the front diff is toast). I bought the truck off of someone who has no respect for vacuum hose. There are vacuum hoses missing, and poorly replaced with hose that is ill fitting and kinked. I work at an auto parts store, so getting the right hose and fittings is not a problem, but I am having a heck of a time finding a vacuum diagram for this truck. I checked Mitchel's on demand and Chilton and Haynes books, and the only vacuum diagrams I could find have nothing to do with my actual truck. I ahve a few specific questions if anyone can help. There is a vacuum switch at the very front of the air intake duct that is disconected, and also some on the throttle body that I suspect to be incorrectly routed. If anyone can help me out by pointing me to a good diagram, or with these questions in particular, that would be a huge help.
Also, I am looking to replace the front differential and get the four wheel working again. I want to use the stock rear, but I wanted to know if there are any options for the front axle shafts. Are there any axles that don't use the intermediate shaft on the passenger side that would work? I want to get rid of the twin beam suspension in the front and go with a solid front so the jack shaft is not really necessary. By the way...do solid fronts exist for this size truck?
Thanks for the help,
Alex, the Annoying Ranger Guy
