I have A 95 F150, Sarting with front tank the engine
either will noy start right off,or sometimes diesals If I switch to rear tank starts no problem. When I switch
back to front tank it runs fine. Any ideas?
You'll need to check the fuel pressures from both tanks at the schraeder valve on the fuel rail. V8's are about 39psi at idle and th I6 is 55psi. Once you shut the engine off, the pressure should hold within 5psi for 30 seconds. If it doesn't you may have a leak or leaky injector.
Also pull the vacuum line off the fuelpressure regulator, replace or rebuild the regulator if there is any gas there. With the vac line off, the pressure at the rail at idle should go up a few pounds.
How well does it start from the rear tank if you haven't tried the front tank first?
I know you said it starts fine AFTER you switch to it from the front... I'm curious if the rear does the same thing on first startup of the day. Typically when my 94 5.0 starts ruff like that I know its time for a cap&rotor but mine is consistant. It'll do it to me on either tank on first startup.
