I am driving a 2005 F-150 extended cab truck while my 97 Lariat is being repaired at a body shop. A light on the dash says that the airbag on the passenger side is off. How do you turn it on? There is no manual in this truck either. My g/f will ride in the truck so I need to know how to turn it on.
Can someone enlighten me please?
Richard
I think in the new trucks that the airbags are automatic. If none is in the passenger side or if it is a child the system automaticly adjusts. I don't have my manual with me I will try to check it.
I just checked the book and it is a fully automatic system. If no one is in the seat then the bag is disabled. If someone is in the seat and the light is on then it recomends that person re-position themselves.... and this is from the maunual I swear "make sure the seat back is in it's full up right postion".... Gee I feel like a flight attendent
I noticed when I picked up my son from school(weight...approx 65 pounds) the airbag off light stayed on. It came on and went off when I started the truck when I picked it up. That's cool I guess. I do like the way the radio volume goes up and down, depending on the speed of the truck. All in all it's a nice truck but it sure sits higher off the ground than my 97 Lariat.
Thanks again Web!
They are automatic. They are also intelligent in that if the person weighs less that a certain amount (like a child who could be severely injured by an air bag) the air bag turns off.
the light should not be on if the seat is completely empty, the airbag will be disabled but the light won't be on. the light should only be on if it senses that there is an object under a certain weight on the seat like a small child. if the seat is empty and the light is on the something is wrong with it.
