My F-250 Truck has thrown a rod. It has a 351E engine. I already have a 351M in a crate on hand. Are they compatible? What are the differences? Thanks, Richard.
Welcome to FTE.
What year is your F250 and is was it the original motor?
ford didn't make a "351E" but I'll guess you mean 351W.
There's a lot difference between the two. Motor mounts and bell housing are different.
If you have a man. tranny you can just get a BB bell housing, if you have an auto (c6) then you need to find one with a big block pattern.
Yes, sorry, I was mistaken, it has a 351M in it and I have a 351W in a crate. The truck is manual trans. Sounds like I need to see about exchanging the engine. Thanks.
I guess you have an '77-'82 F250.
two options
1, swap bell housings, motor mounts, and some other stuff to make the 351W work.
2, find a 351M/400 rebuild it or not and just drop it in.
