I have in my possession a 1986 Ford Bronco II with a recently installed V6, 2.9 Litre, Fuel Injected engine...Here is the present situation... several of the vacuum line hoses and tubes were haphazardly reinstalled and others are completly missing. Utilizing my Haynes Repair Manual,(number 36070), and the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) label located in the engine compartment on the radiator support, I have identified a high percentage of the 'Emission Control and Fuel',system components and their locations 'under the hood.' Here are my questions: 1). Is there information available so as to properly size the vacuum hoses/tubes, for example the inside diameter, the outside diameter, wall thickness also whether to utilize rubber or alternate material? 2). There are two components that I am not sure of. The color code on the conductors, or signal wires, at these two components do not correspond with the "electronic engine controls" wiring diagram in the rear of the Repair Manual. I will attempt to identify them both: Component number one= located in a bracket that is mounted on the drivers side of the upper intake manifold toward the front of the engine near the rear of the throttle body assemble. It,(the component) approximate dimensions are 1 5/8"(42mm)x1 7/8"(47mm)x7/8"(22mm),it lays in the bracket flat with the 7/8"(22mm) as the vertical wall, also at the bottom and centered is, what appears to be an opening for either a pressure or vacuum line. A plug fitting with three conductors attach fit directly into the (horizontal) rear of the component. The name "Ford" is stamped on the unit with the following digits...E6AE-9J460-AIA or, A1A....O.K. are you ready for more? Here goes....Component number two=located in a bracket that is mounted on the firewall just forward of the passengers' compartment, (in the engine compartment). It,(the component) approximate dimensions are 2 3/4"(69mm)x15/16"(23mm)x13/16"(20mm). It, is supported in a bracket. This component, also, lays flat with the 13/16'(20mm) side as the vertical wall. connected to the rear of the component is a plug fitting that holds three conductors and a vacuum port. This vacuum port is connected, by hose, to a vacuum tap located on the upper intake manifold, near the throttle body assemble, passenger side. The name "Ford" is stamped on the unit with the following digits...E6EF9F479AIA...or, A1A....As dictated by the Vehicle Emissions Control Information,(VECI), the two components that I cannot account for, are the MAP and the EGR units. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Question 1: I don't think it matters much about size of vacuum tubing. You want tubing which has an id of the appropriate size to attach to its ports. Wall thickness needs to be thick enough and/or rigid enough so the hose doesn't collapse under vacuum.
question 2 component 1: If I follow your description, that is the EGR PFE sensor. The vacuum port on the sensor should be attached to a vacuum port on the EGR valve, also attached to the throttle body.
