5 speed to replace 4 speed

I have a 1986 F-250 diesel with a 4 speed standard transmission and would like to change it for a 5 speed. Is this a straightforward change? To my knowledge there was not a 5 speed available in 1986 for this truck so I would need to use one from a later year. What 5 speed do I need to find?

Any information appreciated.

5 speed to replace 4 speed

The Ford Z4 5spd. (4+O.D.) has been great in my '90 F250. 1st gear is a "granny", The others are close enough ratios for good speed pickup. O.D. gives pretty fair mileage at highway speeds. Mine is coupled to a 4.10 L.S. differential.
