I just got some SilverStar bulbs for my truck and am really happy with the improved brightness over stock halogens.
I'm wondering if anyone has changed the bulbs in their fog lights to match? Right now the fog lights look like they are dimmer than the headlights, and I would like them to match, mostly a cosmetic thing.
Great, that's what I wanted to hear!
wilhntr- you say you used 9005's, assuming they fit right in?
yes, they plug right in and are 65 watts instead of 42

i have heard that DOT has put some stricter. regs on the headlamps in newer cars and trucks (no color coated bulbs) so sylvania was not going to make a 9008 sliverstar. i have also heard that they may come out with one in a few months, so i would say just keep checking.
I just picked up my 05' F350 CC Lariat 6.0 LB four days ago and I have already been searching for aftermarket replacement bulbs. I have Nokya bulbs on other vehicles of mine that I got from racinglab.com. I could not find the 9008 on their website, so I called. They took a little while researching the crossreference. They finally found out that Nokya should have a replacement in about 1 1/2 to 2 months. The new bulb will be a H13. I am going to call back and hopefully these bulbs are in. I will need the extra vision for this beautiful truck at night while towing and towing and towing my 30' trailer.
This stuff is all very interesting. I have a couple of questions:
It was said that the 9005 bulb plugs directly into the fog lamp socket. I was on the Sylvania website and there are a few different model 9005s. Which one is correct as a "drop-in" replacement. Also, does the 65 watt bulb cause any overheating/melting issues with the stock socket and/or wiring harness?
I have been looking around and found a "Brite Box" that allows both the high and low beams to be on when the high beam switch is closed. http://198.104.149.53/CoastalData/sh...ID=314&CATID=2
Does anyone have details on this? The description says that it prevents overloading the wiring harness. The 9008 bulb on the 2005 SD is dual filament. Would the bulb overheat and fail prematurely with this installed? The description says that it's good for 1988 and up trucks. Would that include the 2005?
I want to be able to make my lights as bright as possible while still retaining the stock look on my new truck (due to arrive in June).
