Tow Command do I or don't I

I have recently ordered a F350 w/Tow Command. Since this is a new option for 2005, some RV dealers are insistent that aftermarket brake control devices are better. Is this true?

Get it. I did. It is really a good option and mine works great. There was a forum awhile back and I think everyone was happy with their's.

Your RV dealer just wants to sell you a brake controller. Go with the tow command. This is just one of the advantages ford has over the competition. Good luck with your new truck!!

Unless your trailer/5er has an electric-over-hydraulic brake system, the Tow Command should out-perform any after-market controller.

The new 05's are integrated into the abs and trans. So no aftermarket is going to give you that much control. It's the best investment, other than the truck of course.

i have used both. hands down the new integrated tow command option is far superior to an aftermarket one. I'm pulling a 10,000 pound trailer and the new brake controller option was like the difference between night and day.

Ford's new brake contoler cooperates with the ABS and is a progressive brake application based on braking pressure read from the master cylinder. You can't buy ANY aftermarket brake controller that will come close to the performance of the factory unit. BUY IT, you won't be dissapointed!!

The factory brake controler DOES NOT work with electric over hydraulic trailer brakes. You would need an aftermarket controler for those applications.

Mor/Ryde in Elkhart, In swears that their electric over hydraulic disc brakes work with TowCommand.

Who is right?

You be the judge. Here is a quote out of my current Ford saleman literature.

"It is important to note that this system is designed for use only with trailers which have an electric braking system. If the vehicle is going to be utilized to tow a trailer with an electric-over-hydraulic brake system, it is necessary to use an "aftermarket" trailer brake controller designed specifically for hydraulic brakes."

I suppose that if you don't have electric over hydraulic, then definately get the tow command! I have electric brakes and I have found Fords Tow Command System to be a great purchase. I have used after market stuff and like Fords the best.
