I am in the process of the old "turning two trucks into one" project and am in need of body mounts. The local NAPA tells me they can no longer get them, but that I should be able to get aftermarket urethane mounts elsewhere. From what I'm told, Ford mounts would make the cost of this project unfeasible. Has anyone found a good source for mounts. I am looking for a complete set as I am swapping on a different cab and front clip to this frame. The old mounts aren't looking like something I'd like to reuse. I did find this posting on eBay (item 7967948190), but to be quite honest, I'm not sure this is what I need. The truck in question is a 2wd and I'm not interested in altering the ride height.
I used a master poly Prothane kit from JCwhitney. It comes with everything. Of course, you can order just the body mounts. I didn't notice a difference in the ride quality with poly.
Jeff's broncograveyard IS a great place to get stuff for these years but they are a bit pricey. You can try LMC truck also. You can't order much from their website but get the catalog. It has almost everything OEM and a few aftermarket things. I just bought the full mount set as well as the radiator core set that JBG does not carry. Man, were those a b!t@# to get off!
i bought my body mounts, bed bolt kit, and core mounts from lmc. i thought i saw them on jbg recently, but im not sure. had they been available from jbg at the time i would have bought them there to support the site. i have seen the polyurethane mounts in offroad shops, theyre like 65$ for a set but include none of the hardware, only the rubber parts.
Carolina Classics has the rubber mounts you're looking for. I just bought them from there. LMC has them in their catalog also. They're pricey compared to the polyurethane stuff. $100 For the cab mount set and $60 for the radiator support set.
The kits come with all hardware.
I got daystar poly for about 55 after local tax. Only had cab and rad support mounts along with new washers. No bolts or bed mounts if there are any bed mounts. Bought my truck with a utility bed, now I have no bed. Didn't need bed mounts.
I just bought some cab bushings for my '73 F100 2wd, but have not installed them yet. I checked with LMC and several other companies. Many of the kits don't include the hardware, which I needed. So the best kit and cheapest price was Dennis-Carpenter reproductions. The quality appears great and the price was $100 for the cab kit. Came with rubber bushings and all the washers, bolts, nuts and spacers to replace all the factory harware. I've always been very happy with Dennis Carpenter's parts.
Thanks, guys! I ordered the radiator supports from LMC and they installed nicely. Thanks for the info on the other mounts. To get the bushings and hardware from LMC or JBG was $200+. That is kinda ridiculous. I may try my hand at CNCing the steel cups and getting the hardware from Aircraft Spruce or another AN hardware supplier.
