Question Engine and Transmission Mounts

I was just doing some more research for my engine swap and noticed that there doesn't appear to by many options for replacement motor or transmission mounts for out trucks.

I'm only seeing Anchor brand mounts available. It looks like a Ford part may be available for the motor mounts. As for the transmission, Anchor seems to be all there is.

Is there not any aftermarket support for these parts? I don't see anything on Summit either.

I looked at NPD and the ones they have look like Anchor.

I have an Anchor trans mount sitting on the shelf that I thought I needed quite a while back. It doesn't look to be as well made as the old original Ford mount.

I have also seen almost nothing but negative reviews of the Anchor brand for all types of vehicles. Most of what I have read points to the longevity being poor.

My friend used Anchor mounts on his wife's Honda and wishes he hadn't. The car vibrates more than it did with worn out OE mounts.

So, What is everyone getting, and where are you getting it?

I ran into the same issue and just decided to buy the Anchor mounts. I was looking for a better aftermarket upgrade but theres not alot of love for Fords in the aftermarket world. I guess all the ZOMBIES drive chevy 350's but us cool kids drive the 351's.

Go to Jeffs bronco graveyard.

They have hardened engine mounts and trans mounts.

I almost refuse to go with the cheapo Anchor mounts. I keep reading and hearing so much negative feedback on those parts, its almost rediculous.

Those mounts from Bronco Graveyard look very nice. I think I saw mention of those mounts a while back. I must have forgot about them. Do you have them on your truck?

I had just been researching this a couple days ago and then here this thread is.

I will say, I put some anchor mounts in my last truck some years back. I thought they worked well enough, that is until I tried to take the engine out a couple years later. When I tried to take the nuts back off of the studs, the mounts just fell apart.

The OE mounts had lasted almost 10 years, but still didn't break on dissembly.

I would go OE if you can find OE motor mounts, and anything other than anchor for the trans mount.

Yeah, go with your gut. Anchor mounts are not good at all.

I put a set of Anchor torque struts on my wife's Neon and it vibrated a lot. The rubber in them was cracked in just a few months.

I bought some anchor motor mounts for my 91 and they were awful. The bolt holes did not line up to the block, and when I finally got them on the stud pulled out of one of the mounts when I put the torque wrench to it.

I ended using Duralast from Autozone. They seem to be doing ok. Not OEM though.

Firerescue, post back and let us know how well the mounts from Bronco Graveyard fit and if you like them. I'm wondering if the material will cause more vibrations from the engine. I'm not concerned if its a little.

Skyfox, sounds like the Anchor parts are indeed what I thought they'd be.

Yeah. It seems that Anchor doesn't meet very high standards for any make and model.

For what its worth I think Duralast may be the same as Anchor or a variation of it. The part number for the transmission mount I have is the same for both. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be using this transmission mount.
