Hi any one in the medical field? i just got my labs results in and they said i had an elevated thyroid level of 9.16, and high cholesterol. last month my THL was 6.28. What this all mean? With hyperthyroidism i have everything that on the list for symptoms. Is 6.28 to 9.16 bad, and is the normal THL level under 5.5? My sister has this to.
hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are both very serious conditions - I would advise you speak with your family doctor and possibly get an appointment with a thyroid specialist.....
I am a lab tech.(when I am not in Iraq or at Nat'l Guard drills) I see a LOT more hyPOthyroidisim than hyPERthyroidisim. I know that a common treatment for hyperthyroidisim is to remove all or part of the thyroid, then control your TSH level(Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)with a synthetic hormone, like Synthroid. What was your T4 total level? And did you get a T-3 run? These are the actual hormones your thyroid produces the "T' stands for thyroxine. Your normal range for tsh should run between 0.49-4.67. Yours is pretty high.

Will find out about the t3 and t4, it wasn't done the first time. The second time they did a complete workup for my thyrod.
My T4 level is 0.5. The Lab tech. may of misspoke a little because she didn't look at my T4. The nurse practitioner SAID MY THYROID WAS A LITTLE LOW. I was told the normal level for T4 is 0.6 to 1.6. They will start me on .025 mg of Velvo thyrotropin ???( spelling) for six weeks, then retest. Does this increase my iodine levels?
How did I mis-speak? You originally said you thought it was hyPERthyroidisim, which means your thyroid gland is too active. T-4 levels are supposed to be0.6-1.6. TSH(Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) levels are what is supposed to be running 0.49-4.67. These are two completely different elements in your blood.

Sorry my fault, I didn't mean you Armorer. I meant to say the lab technition that took my blood, called me to say i had high throid levels. Does that sound right that its low thyroid with the t-4 levels?
