Oh, let's not foget that sometime in the mid 80's all the engines started spinning 30% slower on the highway. The engine doesn't car how many miles it goes, it just cares how many times it spins around.

how about compression? Many of the older motors had a 80-100k life span. Now engines are designed far different with lighter alloys and, yes, lower compression than what you would find in the 60 and early 70's- not in all cases probably. Or i might be asuming far too much based on my limited knowledge. I bet the use of lighter, stronger metal- along with design has a lot to do with rather than fi. Also computers cut way down on things like detonation and govenors and tighter traffic laws and the aging of population and ....and....and...
