Walker downpipe

It seems that the Walker downpipe will be positioned slightly differently than the original downpipe. The 1965 original was attached to a bracket, slightly above the starter:

However, the new pipe seems to want to be beneath the starter and out of reach of the original bracket (now removed):

Where should I relocate this bracket?

Would it be a problem to drill some mounting holes into one of the frame cross members and attach the bracket there?

It seems that the pipe should have some support other than what it gets from being attached to the manifolds.

Thanks!

I would not worry about the front bracket! The later vehicles don't have a bracket until after the first cross member or at the converter!
