Axle shims

What degree of shim should I use on my front axle? I have seen 4 degree, 6 degree, but not sure which to use. I have about 10 inches of lift.

6 deg from stock will be spooky. try 4 ? Either way with that much lift it won't help the drive shaft much.

What do you suggest then? I see you your truck has been lifted pretty similar to what mine will be. Do you not have any front end problems?

I have 4 deg shims under my front springs. It doesn't seem to bother it, but I don't know where the factory setting was. It may have put it into a neg caster, but with a heavy axle, as long as there isn't too much it won't be a problem. However another 2 deg in shims (6 deg) probably would put it over the edge. A better solution in my opinion would be to get a steep angle cv shaft made up & try a 4 deg shim.

If you do a CV at the t-case then you need to have your pinion pointed straight at it which would probably put you at a bad caster angle like Mark described. If you want to keep the pinion angle where it is then you need a double CV (one at each end of the driveshaft) and they are quite expensive to have built. If you want to check on prices for one try www.highangledriveline.com. E-mail Jess and he can give you a quote. Your other option, which isn't pleasant but it's really the best way to go, is to turn your C's so the knuckles have positive caster when the pinion is turned up. But this is a big PITA and requires a lot of work.
