I just looked at your profile and see you have a I300. It is a GREAT engine 145hp with almost 300. Torque right off idle, great pulling, and was alot of fun for me to drive for 2 years. Please don't get offended but the 300 on pavement doesn't pull as well as 4.6 traction or not in 2 wd format atleast.
I hooked the 300 up to a 86 302, 89 350 chevy, and a 95 dodge neon (most fun). No bending or parts grenading on those either. All victories btw. The neon was close though "wink".
Dubin, I never said you were a liar, I said "either you're lying or your lucky" I said that because you seemed to believe that you were not lucky. I thought you were, because your trucks were still functioning. And I am far from offended, as you could see from my profile I also have an Expie with a 5.4. I am well aware of a v-8's capabilities over an I-6. I too love the I-6, but I know my Triton would yank an inline any day of the week. I would never do it though, because I have seen FIRSTHAND parts go goodbye during activities like this. I just like my trucks too much to put them through that, I guess. So, I'm sorry if I came across like a jerk. We have just had different expieriences-I never thought you were a liar-you go to KSU for pete's sake. I was stationed at Ft.Riley for awhile and I know how you guys party! A pull-off is like.........mild for you guys!!!!
aaaaawwwhhhh Come down here and I'll Hook up "on pavement" to my "little" 300. Oh wait you already have me beat you have 410's and I have 3.73's. I'll bet my F250 that wieghs 5300lbs empty with a granny 4 spd and 3.73 trak loc would drag you around till I ran out of gas.
My victories
88 2500 chevy 350 5spd
89 1500 SWB 305 5 spd
99 dodge 1500 360 quad cab auto
97 S10 4.3 auto- No I'm serious
a 02 ext cab F150 4.6 auto
I pulled each of them like they were trailers-eather your buddy has no clue about pulling.....OR just come down and I'll add you to my growing list............
Dustin
Proudly driving a F250 with a 300- ya it's only a 6 cylinder I promise
I based things on pulling experience having owned both and used them to pull things. What I would be interested in is if you guys swapped trucks and repulled. Differences in how the throttle was applied can make the results swing either direction.
As far as pulling on pavement, the only thing I can see grenading is the tire tread. It's the hard packed dirt/rocks that, from my experience, cause the biggest equipment failures. Catch a large buried rock as your tires spin and parts do come flying off suddenly.
Remember its not speed that kills, it's that sudden violent stop!
f250 that weighs 5300 lbs??? My truck weighs 5000 also. Dustin if you make your way down to manhattan Ill have a friendly pull off. A 70's F250 with a 300 3.73 weighing 5k against a 04 F150 with the 4.6 4.10 LS weighing 5k...... I have a feeling I would probably pull you around just the same. But we can never know without testing. (Your gears are 3.73, I pulled against a 4.10 300 w/ fuel injection.....)
ya But I have a granny 4 speed I would drag you without even touching the gas pedal.
You know You got me really courious now how EASY!! my truck would drag an 04/05 F150 considering the trucks that I listed I didn't even chirp the tires. You know I need a challange I'll find some 16 year old kid in his daddys new ride just to amuse myself...
PS I have trac lok also. The bed of my truck is right at 60" so I probly have a nice hight advantage also.
if my truck wasn't the lightest thing on earth....i could pull alot of crap around with it...my gears are too low for even attempting the freeway....and my tires suck butt on pavement....but the last time i hooked up to a truck it was with my 86 300l6 against an 80's chev with a 350AWD he pulled me a lil way till i dropped hte clutch then he snapped his rear driveline and a drug him around like a rag doll....
