ful injectors

anyone using the fuel injectors out of a 99 mercury sable or the ford Taurus 3.0.. I read that they are about the same as the 4.9 injectors but have a better spray pattern..I also have read about folks using the injectors out of a 97 crown vic 4.6..im going to be making a trip to the local pull a part and thought I might pick up a set and clean em up and try them out on my 91 4.9 f150..what do you guys think..

I would be more concerned with the liters per minute than the spray pattern, get an OTC injector tester, set it at 50 pulses, energize the fuel pump and see how much fuel flows from the injectors, when you go to the yard, grab the fuel rail, make sure you have the tool to disconnect the fuel line from the rail, or just cut the fuel line back, grab whatever injectors and rails you want and you can use your trucks pump and test each injector. spray them into a glass jar and if you dont have anything with cc markings you can buy diabetic needles and pour the fuel into them to see how much fuel the injectors dumped, I would worry more about how much fuel comes out rather than the pattern, gas is different than diesel, diesel spray's the fuel right into the combustion chamber so pattern is very important, gas spray's into the intake runner, it bounces off the valve, runners ect. If you put injectors in that flow's too much you may never get that to run right, she may be rich all the time, and the ECM may not be able to drop the pulse width enough to get it to run right. It's an interesting idea and something to play around with but do it right. Take the time.

Newer style injectors do produce better fuel atomization but you need to make sure any injector you use has the same flow rate as the OEM injector for your truck.

yea from what I've read, they should be the same but have a better spray ..I just googled about some fuel injector info and there was a post about it over at fordsix performance and it caught my eye..i might do some more studying on the flow rates...
