T98 4 spd shifter
#31
Murphy, 286meac said he has a couple in the woods. Maybe he could thake the shifter out of one and send it to you. It can't cast that much to ship just the shifter. I would check in local junk yards also. I was walking through one around me and way in the back, there it was , a '65 F-250. I know it had to have the T-98. They used these things for years. They even were used in cranes to run the cables up and down. Keep trying, you'll find one.

Remember, the T-98 that fits a '48-52' with a 239 is a specific T-98. nat all 98's will fit.
The 98 I need has to have the rear mounting arms turn and face forward. This is because the 98 is a little longer than the un-sync tranny.
With the rear mounts turning to the fronn, it fits in the crossmember.

Oh yes, trust me, there was one there at one time!
If yours is gone now, the only thing holding it all in place are the two front motor mounts,...and the driveshaft.
I'd be a little leary if it was me!
Are you sure you're correct?
The bellhousing has two ears on it that bolt to a crossmember, that's your tranny support.

The cross member is not one that you would typically think is a cross member. The bell housing supports the motor as well as the tranny. to remove the tranny and bell housing, you need to jack up the motor and support it while the bell housing is off. The tranny has 4 bolts that hold it to the bell housing and there is not a cross member per say "under" the tranny. It's under the bell housing.

Mustang transmissions are far too light duty for use in a pick-up. While I currently run one in my old Mustang, I have seen the inside of this transmission (and rebuilt it when it failed my Mustang) and it is far too flimsy for Truck use. T5s were designed to last a 200 hp, 3000lb Mustang about 100,000 miles. Sorry to dig up an old post... Looking for T98 info.
