I have a 1981 f150 4x4 351 4brl duel exhst
The question os this. I have checked the compression
and all the vacuum lines and still can't figure out why I have engine smoke coming from the breather hose going to the carb.
The smoke seems like oil smoke but its hard to tell.
Also there is oil coming out of the dipstick tube but not real bad. I have check everything possible and am lost. I have also tried to find this problem in several manuals, and again nothing referring to this problem.
How many miles are on the engine, and how much smoke are we talking about? Lots of engines with high miles or lots of hours have at least some blowby, thats why the pvc hoses are there. DF
PCV is new and all the vacuum lines are routed according to manufactures specs.
Motor has approx 35,000. miles
was completely rebuilt ground up about three years ago.
The smoke coming from the breather is not a lot. Kind of like having a tea kettle on the stove at a soft simmer.
What really gets me is the oil coming out of were the dipstick is
located. I checked the size of the stick, and it is the correct one for that motor. So I kind doubt that it goes to far into the oil pan.
I'm just lost on this one????
I had this same problem with an 81 351 M in my F-250. I installed an aftermarket breather on my valve cover. It was a chrome piece of crap with a baffle on the inside. Anyway, this baffle was creating too much pressure, causing the oil to come out of the dipstick. Take another look at your setup, maybe you sill see something there.
