Oil Pan Solution?

I'm in need of some sources for a 302 oil pan. This past weekend, I finally got to place the front suspension parts in place after the fab shop installed the crossmember. I've got a TCI Mustang II IFS in place with a power rack and a sway bar. Now I need to determine what to do about a possible oil pan for the 302 I'm placing in the truck.

From what I can tell, I'll need a pan that can clear the IFS crossmember and sway bar. Does anyone have a suggested donor for an oil pan that might fit in this situation?

I'm sure someone will have more precise information, but my understanding is that a rear sump oil pan from an early Bronco is what you are looking for. You would probably also need the pickup tube and screen.

check the pans from the fox body cars, some of them have a sort of a sump in front and rear. If you are real ambitious you can slice the pan off about 2 inches below the rails, turn it 180 and weld it back on. Bolt it to a block for the welding, worked for me

302 Oil Pan

I'm running a 302(5.0L) form 1990 Crown Victoria that has dual sump, the front being considerably smaller. I have an MII IFS, I was concerned with clearance for the oil pan, but it clears the cross member no problem. I have about 3/4" clearance on steering rack. I was able to drop the pan to change gasket. Had to raise engine and tranny about three inches to remove the pan completely, but that was standard proceedure in the Crown Victoria. I may have picture of my motor install in my gallery.

Here's a pic of a dual sump oil pan. The only thing that isn't great about it is you have drain both oil sumps.

I know where you would be able to get a rear sump oil pan for a reasonable price. If interested in info let me know

Just curious; on the dual sump pans, what's the point of the front sump? Is there something under there that needs clearance? It seems like it does no good, and it essentially traps oil.

I believe the pan I have is from a late 60's/ early 70's van motor. It is rear sump with only one drain plug. It clears my Volare crossmember fine. Not a chance of removing pan with motor in truck, I don't believe. Joe

For ALBUQ F-1, The front sump is for the oil pump, the back is where the pick up tube is. This was designed for the 79-91 Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, and Lincoln. The center section fit over the cross member. Getting the pan off in a car is a pita, contrary to logic it comes out the front. Rear sump can come from a Mustang, or if room a front sump like off a 68 Ford ( I know there are other years also)
