source for bottom brackets for gas tank?

Does anyone know where I can get the brackets that go underneath of the fuel tank on my 64? The lower edge of the tanks sits in a ledge(?) on two of these brackets. The bracket bolts to the floor of the truck using the same bolt as what I think is the cab mount.

One of mine is rusted out at the ledge part.

The new tank does have some holes on the bottom flange that think could be used for mounting, but I would have to drill through the cab floor. I would rather go with the bracket if they are available somewhere.

Thanks
Taylor

i have only come across those retainers in salvage yard. Have a part number of C4TB-8111158. You may want to try E-Bay, under '61-66 ford truck parts'. Browsing this a.m. and came across seller who appears to be parting out a 64. May want to email him and see if interested in parting with the retainers.

The part number is C1TZ 8111158-A, I found 2 places that list NOS.These fit from 61-64 in various models.

Green Sales Cinci, Oh 1-800-543-4959 qty 3 in stock
Southside Obs. Fairibualt, MN 1-800-866-1310 qty 1 in stock

Call them up and give them the part number and ask for price.

Sorry Taylor, look the part number off of my 65 Ford Assembly Manual. I have got to get a Part Number Manual, certainly helps to find some of these parts are still out there.

Thanks guys, I ended up ordering 2 from Southside Obsolete. He charged $7 each plus $11.50 minimum UPS shipping. Green wanted $15 each.

I was wondering about when I take those bolts out, because even though I have seen some body drawings I don't yet get how everything is put together on the truck. Are those actually the bolts for the cab mounts going through those retainers? What should they be torqued to when I put everything back?

And this may be a stupid question, but is it going to throw anything off if I take both of those bolts out at the same time but leave the fronts alone? i.e. Will the cab twist up and make it hard for me to get them back through? I would like to have them off together for a couple of days so I can clean up the (hopefully minor) surface rust around there and repaint.

You should be able to remove the bolts (and yes, they do hold the cab down). You will have to clean them real good and soak with wd40 or similar. I had to use and impasct and wrench to tighten and loosen in several cycles to get my bolts out. If your in need of new cab rubbers, this would be a good time to replace them as well.
No the cab will not twist and buckle when the bolts are removed.

Isnt it absolutely amazing at the oddball things that are STILL out there 40 plus years after these were made....As to the R&R of the bracket....I pulled a cab off a 66....I got lucky as the threads had minor amount of undercoating/grease on them....I hope yours do as well or else wire brush the pee out of them, flush crud w/wd40 as Rosati mentioned them I would test to see how willing the nuts are at moving...use a 6 point socket on these suckers...Rosatis idea is the best....

That does blow me away, and I sure am glad for all of the people that thought they should save these things and that there would be an ongoing market for them.

I will probably jinx myself, but it looks like there are some relatively new washers and rubbers/bushings underneath on all four mounts. _hopefully_ that means I will have an easier time getting the bolts out than you guys did. I am kind of wondering if the whole cab was off of the truck or even if it's the original cab.

Any idea what I should torque those bolts to when I reinstall them?

OK one of them came out super easy. On the other one, I was able to get the nut off with just hand tools but not the rubber bumper part. It is threaded onto the bolt and it's stuck. I can't figure out how to get a good grip on it to turn it to get it out of the truck. I tried heating it and spraying with PB blaster.

I am going to try to get find a new bolt and if I can, I will just cut the bolt out. Then it will be easier to unscrew the bumper thing on the bench instead of on the truck.

Does anyone have a better solution than that for me?

Thanks
