Quick question for the guys running the programmers on their 6.0's. What power setting gives you the best gas mileage? 65-100-150? And my second question, does it give you better mileage than stock? Looking to increase my power, but don't want to hurt my mileage...Thanks!
I don't burn gas in my 6.0 , but my fuel mileage improved on all settings - assuming that I held my driving habits constant - hard to do when you first get the tuner installed.
I run mostly in the High Performance setting on the SCMT as I'm driving around unloaded most of the time. The Economy mode (mid level setting) is supposed to provide the best general fuel savings under most conditions.
But when towing the trailer I switch to the Tow Safe tune because my trailer is to heavy to run with the Economy setting per the manual that comes with the tuner. I have also seen quite an improvement there. In fact, towing is probably where the best gains are for me.
You should see a mileage increase w/ either of the more popular tuners in any of the three modes that they offer. The hardest part is keeping your foot out of the throttle and destroying any chance of better mileage. Once you get a little used to it being "tuned" you should see improvements as you "play" a little less. Good luck on that!
I had the Predator installed in my 04 F250 CC 6.0 and did not notice any increase in mpg at any of the settings (and using the same driving habits.) The power performance of the truck improved dramatically , but no better economy. That's what I had bought the Predator for (better fuel economy) and with the results, I removed it and now drive mine stock. It still has plenty of power for me.
