Patch panel won't fit
After lining up the panel to scribe my lines, I cut out the existing rotted corners, so far so good.
Next I used butt weld clamps to get a trial fit & hold the new panel in place so I can get an idea on the fit.
I clamp it on starting on the backside working my way around to the side where it meets the door jamb, and lo & behold the panel sticks out at least 1/4" past the existing sheetmetal (from above)where I'd have to tack weld it.
How do you fix THAT?
Has anyone run into this problem?
I'm not a professional bodyman by all means, in fact this is my first try at fixing corners.
Everything looks good so far except I think my patch panel is not stamped right to line up with the existing metal, and if that's the case, how do I fix it?
Any help would be appreciated!
That's exactly what I'm going to have to do, section the panel at least 1/4".
There's no way even starting at the doorjamb and working my way towards the back that I could hammer it in that much and make it look or even fit good enough for that matter!
I'm glad someone has been through it (meaning you) so it won't confuse my decision to section it.
Thanks much!
