I checked out the OilGuard website. I like what I see so far, but there's no way to ask them a technical question.
What I want to know is can I use a sandwich style bypass on the full flow filter that will handle both the inflow and outflow to the bypass filte5r, or will it only work with their setup?
I was having a hard time shifting right last winter....up north in the midwest. I placed a piece of cardboard in front of the cooler..and all were happy.
As for engine oil cooling......I've heard the heat sink oil filter coolers drop it a few degress......for light cooling....no towing or heavy load cooling.
Aurgathor, you stated "never seen coolers for manuals", you haven't looked at a Landrover Discovery (only 94-95 in US), they have a ZF 5-speed, full needle and taper bearings. Full synchro including reverse, all hollow shafts with oil holes, a small oil pump and seperate oil cooler behind the grill. Just had to educate.
Superranger, what is the ZF-6 installed in? Been told if broken, ZF= "Zero Flat" your wallet. I went thru a 84 Mitsubishi Montero 4 x 4 5-speed that had a transfer case bolted on. Was told only "techs" had the ability to to go thru the box, well it was easy. With gear pullers, press, lathe and Bridgeport to make "special tools" i'm going to freshen up the Rover 5-speed this spring. Synchros are tired after 98K town miles. Is there a ZF with overdrive 5th that can take 600 pounds torque from a 482" FE? Sounds like a new thread.
